This policy describes, in plain language, what Telangana Citizen Watch actually does with the information you give it. It is written by the people who built and operate the platform, based on how the code works today — it has not been reviewed by a lawyer.
Reports and escalations submitted through this platform may include a description of what happened, an approximate location and date, and optionally an uploaded photo or PDF. If you choose the "confidential" contact option on any form, we also store the phone number or email you provide so an administrator can follow up. If you choose "anonymous" (the default), we do not ask for or store any contact detail at all.
The Volunteer signup form is the one exception — it always asks for a name and a way to reach you, since its entire purpose is letting an admin follow up with you directly.
We do not require an account to use any part of this site. We do not log IP addresses anywhere in this application's code. We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts of any kind — the site's security policy blocks loading scripts from anywhere but its own domain.
Uploaded photos have EXIF and GPS location metadata automatically stripped before storage — verified by re-encoding every image through a fresh pixel buffer rather than copying the original file. PDF uploads are not currently scrubbed of embedded metadata; avoid uploading PDFs containing personal information you would not want retained.
Only authorized administrators can view submitted reports, escalations, feedback messages, volunteer signups, and any uploaded evidence. Evidence files are served only to logged-in admins, never at a public URL. Aggregate, anonymized statistics (counts by category, status, and failure type) are published on the Statistics page — never individual report details, locations, or identities.
We do not currently run an automatic deletion schedule — submitted reports, escalations, and messages remain in the database until an administrator removes them. If you would like your submission removed, contact the Grievance Officer below with your Report ID or Escalation ID (if you saved one).
We design this platform to avoid collecting identifying information by default, but we cannot honestly promise "100% untraceable" — no website can. If the details you write in a report could identify you by themselves (for example, a very specific set of circumstances only you would know), please write carefully.
